Named after the vital sap that rises invisibly through the veins of a tree, Saba d’Aire speaks of an inner energy ascending and expanding into air—an organic force transformed into gesture and suspended in space.

This monumental sculpture translates Alicia Gimeno’s distinctive visual language into three dimensions. Known for her abstract calligraphic paintings inspired by nature, movement, and Eastern aesthetics, Gimeno transforms a gestural brushstroke into a solid architectural presence.

Inspired by the concept of balance between presence and emptiness, the piece explores the dialogue between mass and void, strength and fragility, tension and calm. Its silhouette evokes the movement of wind through trees, a fragment of bark opening in space, or ink suspended in air. The sculpture appears both rooted and floating—simultaneously grounded in the earth and reaching upward with lightness.

The central opening becomes an essential part of the work: not merely empty space, but an active element that invites contemplation. This relationship between form and emptiness recalls the Eastern philosophical notion that absence can carry as much meaning as presence.

Constructed in steel yet retaining an organic softness, the piece captures a fleeting, almost immaterial gesture and freezes it in permanent form. It reflects Gimeno’s ongoing exploration of nature as energy rather than representation— transforming invisible forces into matter.

Bautizada a partir de la savia vital que asciende de forma invisible por las venas de un árbol, Saba d’Aire habla de una energía interior que se eleva y se expande hacia el aire: una fuerza orgánica transformada en gesto y suspendida en el espacio.

Esta escultura monumental traduce al espacio tridimensional el lenguaje visual distintivo de Alicia Gimeno. Conocida por sus pinturas abstractas de carácter caligráfico, inspiradas en la naturaleza, el movimiento y la estética oriental, Gimeno transforma aquí un trazo gestual en una presencia arquitectónica sólida.

Inspirada en la idea de equilibrio entre presencia y vacío, la pieza explora el diálogo entre masa y vacío, fuerza y fragilidad, tensión y calma. Su silueta evoca el movimiento del viento entre los árboles, un fragmento de corteza que se abre en el espacio o tinta suspendida en el aire. La escultura parece a la vez arraigada y flotante: simultáneamente anclada a la tierra y elevándose con ligereza.

La apertura central se convierte en un elemento esencial de la obra: no es simplemente un espacio vacío, sino un componente activo que invita a la contemplación.
